"Shediac, New Brunswick, summer 79. We had a dirty old step van and a
rental car, an Omni I think. The band house was a fly-infested shit hole
with plastic bags for windows. After the show on a Thursday night, a
bunch of us took the Omni down to the ocean and drove out on the beach
to watch the sunrise. We left the car for a while and when we came back,
all you could see of the Omni was the antenna sticking up above the
water. The tide had come in! I wrote the song about a girl down there
who had a plan to go to New York and study at Julliard, the music
